Tom McKenzie

Managing Partner
Tom McKenzie serves as Managing Partner at VentureDNA. Tom has held executive positions for more than 30 years in a variety of organizations, ranging from Global 500 companies to startups. His broad experience includes growing and managing successful business development and client management teams, as well as private equity management and talent management consulting. Tom previously was a Partner at Cavendish Global. Cavendish is a peer-to-peer community of paradigm-changing innovators in health and life sciences; over 200 leading family offices, philanthropists, foundations and impact investors; key opinion leaders and renown institutional partners that share a passion for well-conceived impact investing, sustainable philanthropy and delivering transformative impact. Prior to Cavendish, Tom was a founder and partner in Island Capital Partners and Olive Branch Group, where he had been an investor and managed multiple private equity and venture capital projects, and companies. He has participated in more than 25 multi-million-dollar real estate and sustainable energy projects as a general partner, principal or investor. He has primarily been responsible for the raising of funds, loan acquisition and the execution of projects, including projects for the General Services Administration, Social Security Administration, Regional YMCA, and multiple mixed-use commercial and residential developments. After starting his career as a sales executive at FedEx, he co-founded a human resource and management-consulting firm, Behavioral Technology. He grew the firm through strategic client relationships, with partners including both Apple and Microsoft. He successfully transitioned the company by leading the first initial public offering in the corporate education and learning sector. He continued to found multiple startups and has successfully exited each through strategic acquisitions. Tom's understanding of the appropriate intersection between personal relationships, investment philosophies and corporate operations is invaluable. His extensive experience and business contacts, combined with those of VentureDNA, create a solid platform to position young diverse companies for the next stage of growth and success. Tom has extensive public speaking and facilitation experience, having presented and facilitated executive team meetings throughout North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia. He holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Memphis.
